Jack and the name of the launch was covered over with
canvas and matting by the Japanese.
This is, to a certain
extent, substantiated by an examination of the launch carried
out about a week later by the Officer in charge No. 1 launch,
when he found strips of canvas still adhering to the tacks
around the name of the launch.
(c) Wong Loi was certainly wounded. The District
Inspector South personally examined him before he was sent
to hospital and found a slight stab wound on his right thigh. The doctor at Kowloon Hospital has also certified that he had
a stab wound.
(d) The coxswain of the Kwong Hing, Pang Kam
Chiu, denies that he consented to search.
he was not consulted at all in the matter.
He states that
He was later
forced to sign and thumb-print a piece of paper certifying
that the Kwong Hing was only searched to find out its
nationality and that there had been no trouble.
(e) The Japanese were able to make themselves
understood in writing.
I think it is clear that the attack did take place
in the position given by the witnesses and not at 500 - 14 or
15 miles from Waglan lighthouse, as claimed by the Japanese
authorities.
